Our May meeting was packed with important updates, a fantastic guest speaker, and a strong sense of community involvement!

Special Guest: Brenda Hayden, NC REALTORS® President-Elect

Brenda Hayden - NC REALTORS®

We were honored to welcome Brenda Hayden, the President-Elect of NC REALTORS®, who joined us to share her insights on statewide housing issues and legislative efforts. A key focus of her presentation was House Bill 765, which aims to address the housing supply crisis across North Carolina.

House Bill 765 is designed to remove some of the barriers that slow down housing development, including zoning restrictions and permitting delays. The bill seeks to streamline processes and encourage the construction of more housing units — a crucial step given that all 100 counties in North Carolina are feeling the effects of limited inventory.

One idea gaining traction?Commutable mortgages — a concept that would allow homeowners to take their current low interest rate with them when they purchase a new home. This could help unlock inventory by encouraging more homeowners to move without giving up their favorable rates.
